Echoes of Guilt

The victim, named Alexi Makani, was a renowned playwright and cultural curator with a mysterious past and a complicated reputation. Known for their gripping and sometimes controversial plays that go deep into the human psyche and societal issues, Alexi's work often stirred strong emotions in the audience and among peers. Some accused Alexi of exploiting cultural stories for personal gain, while others saw them as a visionary bringing vital issues to light.

This game can be played by 3-12 players, all taking on the role as a suspect. Everyone had a reason to kill the victim, and everyone has a reason to deflect blame.

The characters all participated in an exclusive, once-in-a-lifetime cultural retreat that included a ceremonial feast where they consumed a traditional Hawaiian brew with Kava. Unknown to them and the brewer, the Kava was mixed with a rare, memory-impairing flower. As they visit significant locations and engage with traditional practices throughout the game, they slowly regain their memories of the night in question.

Follow the victim's last night and solve puzzles to eliminate suspects. Are you the murderer? Try to throw off the scent. Your team wins when if they discover the murderer ... you win if someone else is fingered as the murderer,

As the story unfolds, it's revealed that many of the negative perceptions were due to misunderstandings, envy, or the misinterpretations of Alexi's complex character and work. What might have seemed like exploitation was actually a deep respect and collaboration with cultural experts, and their rumored cold demeanor masked a vulnerability and generosity known only to a few. In the end, players discover that Alexi's most controversial play was intended to be a powerful, unifying piece, celebrating the very cultures and stories they were accused of misusing.
